CEREC by Sirona Dental Systems is the world's only system for the fabrication of all ceramic dental restorations in one office visit. We just installed a new machine in our office - the Galileos cone beam imaging system by Sirona. This article or Q&A explains to our patients a little bit about the new machine and how it will be beneficial to them as well as the doctors.

Q: What is the flapless technique for placing implants I've heard about?

A: It involves detailed cone beam imaging which provides a 3D virtual model of the skull anatomy. We have installed the Galileos cone beam imaging system by Sirona. It has less radiation exposure, better imaging, easier software than other systems and best yet, it communicates with our CEREC cad/cam software so that we can plan the restoration of the virtual model.

It has a library with all the various implant systems cataloged so that a virtual placement on the implant on the virtual jawbone can be done. This allows us to plan for ideal placement, determine if bone grafting is necessary and relate it all to where the ideal location for the replacement tooth is to be.

The Rembrandt ® teeth whitening system protocol includes the use of a plasma arc light unit (named the Rembrandt ® Sapphire ™). This bleaching light can be fitted with the Rembrandt ® Whitening Crystal ™ so to allow the dentist to simultaneously treat both the patient's upper and lower teeth in one hour.

Rembrandt ® also offers a self-administered whitening procedure, popularly called take-home bleaching, and is performed at home but after your consultation with our Dentists. In this procedure, we takes an impression of your teeth and then creates a customized, well-fitting mouthpiece for you. At home, you just need to apply the bleaching gel on the mouthpiece and then put it on for the period specified by your doctor. As the mouthpiece is customized to fit over your teeth perfectly, the rest of your mouth is protected from contact with the chemicals in the bleaching gel.

For those who are missing teeth, implants help restore health and beauty to your smile. Implants are attached to your jawbone unlike dentures or traditional bridges. Dental implants look and feel more like your own teeth. Tooth Colored Fillings

Natural tooth-colored fillings are becoming the preferred method and are frequently used in place of mercury fillings. The two primary types of tooth-colored restorations that are used are ceramic and composite.

Dentures
